Guillermo Perales - Turning a Franchise into an Empire

Guillermo Perales is the CEO and President of Sun Holdings, Inc. which is a successful franchisee. He began his career in 1997, when he purchased the rights to a Golden Corral Franchise and founded his company. After 18 years, his company has become one the largest franchisees in the country, it consists of 280 Burger Kings, 100 Popeye’s, 68 Arby’s, 24 Golden Corrals, 35 Cici’s Pizzas, 15 Krispy Kreme’s, 10 airport restaurants, and 89 T-Mobile stores. That is a total of 622 stores. In less than two decades, he has built up an empire of franchises and proves thousands of jobs for workers in various cities. He began with one franchise, and worked hard to build an empire expanding over four states. Building a large franchisee company involves dedication, knowledge of business and contracts, and strong leadership skills.

Dedication and ambition are key to developing a large company. In order to succeed, you need to start out with one store and take the time to learn how to operate a franchise and how to follow a franchise contract. These contracts are specific as to how a franchise should be run. It is important that you follow your franchisor’s business model and methodology. While the rights to a franchise have been purchased, the company itself has not been purchased. Therefore it is important that the franchisee is dedicated to following in the footsteps of the franchisor and operating a true representation of the original business.

A successful owner of a franchisee business should also have a good grasp on business methods and contracts. A franchise is based completely on a contract. The franchisee has purchased the rights to the logo and business model of the franchisor. They have a contract between them dictating how the franchise should be operated, and how the franchisor should be represented. It is important to be able to understand the stipulations within the contract and what is required of the franchisee. While the point of a franchise is to follow a previously established business model, it is important for a franchisee to have a firm knowledge of business. If a franchisee wants to build an empire, they should be able to determine what franchises are the most successful, and which ones will be successful in the future. Being a franchisee is based on investment. Therefore, it is vital to be able to determine which investments are wise.

If a franchisee owns multiple franchises is various locations, then he, or she, will not be able to operate them all on site. Therefore a successful franchisee will have leadership skills that are strong enough to guide their employees from afar. These skills should direct and guide the managers of the franchises to help keep each location running smoothly. Guillermo Perales operates hundreds of franchises. His business knowledge and leadership skills have help him become successful.
